CHAOSLA - Chaos/Complexity and Second Language Acquisition

A Refereed Journal

Welcome to the World of Complexity and Second Language Acquisition

The Terraced Labyrinth welcomes you, I hope you find something to pique your interest. This is the online journal of the mailing list CHAOSLA; Chaos/Complexity Science and Second Language Acquisition(SLA). Though the original members were all university English teachers in Japan, the group has grown to include a wide variety of people from all over the world.

There are many research centers that are studying Complexity, foremost amongst them is the Santa Fe Institute. These organizations all produce journals, in print, online or both. Occasionally they even publish papers on language as a complex system, but, as far as we know, there is no other journal that focuses on Complexity science as it relates to language. We hope the Terraced Labyrinth will rectify the situation.

Like most complex nonlinear systems, this journal will evolve to its niche in the global mind. Please join us on the adventure. All we would like is a submission. Our editorial board will consider anything vaguely associated with language, art, and / or cognition. We don't want to narrow focus on SLA, despite our title. Poems, music, art, Quicktime video, Flash animation. etc. are all welcome along with traditional academic papers.

This is a non-profit journal hosted on a university server. Content will be added as quickly as we can. When the size is sufficient, it will then be archived as Volume 1, and Volume 2 shall begin.

Thank you for stopping by, and you are more than welcome to join the mailing list if you like.
